About Me

My name is Sara Hacala, a certified etiquette and protocol consultant and the author of Saving Civility: 52 Ways to Tame Rude, Crude and Attitude for a Polite Planet, released in bookstores and online August 31, 2011 by Skylight Paths Publishing.

That book, which took two years to write, consists of 224 pages, culled from a much longer text which contained numerous tips and comments that had to be eliminated, since many readers prefer shorter—as opposed to longer—books.

As we have not yet become a polite and courteous society, there are continual episodes of rudeness, about which I am writing, as well as tips and suggestions that, I believe, can make us better people and our planet a more pleasant place to live…thus, this blog.  As the author, I get to write from my own perspective and insights, which reflect what I really think—including judgmental comments as well as humor—which I oft times left out of the book.  That said, my intention is to provide guidelines that will help us to get along and co-exist with others, not offend them.

For the time being, I am allowing registered readers of the blog to make comments, provided that they are respectfully stated.  I look forward to hearing your own stories and suggestions.
